Etsy fee tables for US sellers: what you keep per sale
Etsy shows you sales, not profit. This page works out the three fees that hit almost every US order, so you can look up what is left before your own costs. No sign-up and nothing to install: it is one static page.
Rates used (estimates as of October 2026, US): transaction fee 6.5% of item price plus shipping, payment processing 3% plus $0.25 per order, listing fee $0.20 per item sold, Offsite Ads 15% of the order (12% for shops required to take part), capped at $100 per order. Fees change and differ by country: always confirm them in the Fees and Payments Policy on etsy.com before you set prices.
Table 1: a normal order
The order total is the item price plus any shipping you charge. Sales tax is left out of these tables (see the last section).
| Order total | Transaction 6.5% | Processing 3% + $0.25 | Listing | Total fees | You keep | Fees as % of total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $0.65 | $0.55 | $0.20 | $1.40 | $8.60 | 14.00% |
| $20.00 | $1.30 | $0.85 | $0.20 | $2.35 | $17.65 | 11.75% |
| $30.00 | $1.95 | $1.15 | $0.20 | $3.30 | $26.70 | 11.00% |
| $50.00 | $3.25 | $1.75 | $0.20 | $5.20 | $44.80 | 10.40% |
| $60.00 | $3.90 | $2.05 | $0.20 | $6.15 | $53.85 | 10.25% |
| $100.00 | $6.50 | $3.25 | $0.20 | $9.95 | $90.05 | 9.95% |
The pattern: the percentage fees add up to 9.5% of the order total, and the two flat fees add $0.45. On a cheap item the flat $0.45 matters most, which is why a $10 order loses 14% and a $100 order loses just under 10%.
Table 2: an order that came through Offsite Ads
When a sale comes from an Etsy Offsite Ad, Etsy charges an extra 15% of the order total (shown on the order receipt).
| Order total | Fees from Table 1 | Offsite Ads 15% | Total fees | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10.00 | $1.40 | $1.50 | $2.90 | $7.10 |
| $20.00 | $2.35 | $3.00 | $5.35 | $14.65 |
| $30.00 | $3.30 | $4.50 | $7.80 | $22.20 |
| $50.00 | $5.20 | $7.50 | $12.70 | $37.30 |
| $60.00 | $6.15 | $9.00 | $15.15 | $44.85 |
| $100.00 | $9.95 | $15.00 | $24.95 | $75.05 |
Pricing backwards: from your costs to a price
Most sellers pick a price and then find out what is left. It is safer to start from your costs and the margin you want:
order total = (your costs + 0.45) / (1 - 0.095 - target margin)
Your costs are materials, your labor, packaging and the postage label. The target margin is the share of the order total you want to keep as profit, written as a decimal (0.30 for 30%).
Worked example
- Materials $4.10, labor 20 minutes at $15 per hour = $5.00, packaging $0.80, postage label $3.90. Costs: $13.80.
- Target margin 30%. Order total = (13.80 + 0.45) / (1 - 0.095 - 0.30) = 14.25 / 0.605 = $23.55.
- You charge the buyer $4.50 for shipping, so the item price must be at least $19.05. Round up to $19.99.
- Check: the buyer pays $24.49. Fees are $1.59 + $0.98 + $0.20 = $2.77. Profit is 24.49 - 2.77 - 13.80 = $7.92, a 32.3% margin.
If the order might come through Offsite Ads, use 0.245 in place of 0.095. The same item then needs an order total of (13.80 + 0.45) / (1 - 0.245 - 0.30) = 14.25 / 0.455 = $31.32 to keep a 30% margin.
What these tables leave out
- Sales tax and VAT. The buyer pays the tax, but the processing fee is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, so on a taxed order it is a few cents higher than shown here.
- Etsy Ads (the on-site ads you budget yourself), subscriptions and currency conversion fees.
- Fees outside the US: the processing rate and fixed fee differ by country.
- Your income tax.
Want this worked out for every order? The Etsy Seller Profit Tracker + Pricing Calculator is a paid download on Gumroad: six CSV files you import into Google Sheets. It applies these fees to each order you type in, totals profit by month and includes the pricing calculator from the example above, with editable fee rates. It is our own product, so this link is a commercial link and not a neutral recommendation.
